Temperament
A German Pinscher should be vigilant, kind and playful dog. They are known for being very faithful, observant and brave. A well-bred German Pinscher will be an endearing companion with a predictable temperament.
Color & Coat
Coat: The coat should be shiny and smooth in texture, short and dense with no bald spots.
Color: The German Pinscher sports a variety of colors, including various shades of red, stag red, and Isabella (a light bay or fawn color). German Pinschers can also be black or blue with tan or red markings.
Health
Due to the small gene pool of the German Pinscher, breeders should test their dogs for hereditary cataracts, hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia, von Willebrand disease, and thyroid disorder. Due to the increased incidence of cardiac disease as a consequence of irresponsible breeding practices, if you suspect your German Pinscher to have heart issues, it should be removed from all breeding programs.
