The Kuvasz has a high IQ and is often described as playing the clown throughout their adolescence and into adulthood. They are intensely faithful and patient pets who love attention but may also crave independence. They are known to be quite cunning, particularly with strangers.

Living Environment

The Kuvasz is not suitable for apartment life. It is fairly active indoors and thrives with at least a large yard. The Kuvasz needs is strenuous dose of daily exercise. If it is not actively working as a flock guardian it needs to be taken on a daily, long stroll. This dog is fervently faithful to its family therefore it must be properly socialized, as this dog is very territorial and is inherently a guardian of flock.

Health

Although considered a healthy and robust breed the Kuvasz is  prone to developmental bone problems. Owners should avoid subjecting the puppy to boisterous play. As with many large breeds, hip dysplasia, a painful and potentially debilitating condition, is not uncommon. Good genetics and proper nutrition as a puppy are key to avoiding these complications.
