The Miniature Pinscher or “Min Pin” is a small breed of dog which hails from Germany. The Miniature pinscher is in old paintings and sculptures that goes back more than 200 years. This dog was presumably derived from the German Smooth-Haired Pinscher, Manchester terrier, and Italian Greyhound. The Miniature pinscher was initially used as a ratter.

Temperament

Miniature Pinschers are for advanced students as many people underestimate the effort required to raise a Miniature Pinscher. The Miniature Pinscher is a strong-willed, outgoing, active, and independent breed.

Color & Coat

Coat: Short, sleek coat.

Color: Colors include red, black and rust, and chocolate and rust.

Living Environment

The Miniature Pinscher is a determined, exuberant, and independent breed which is suited for apartment life. Miniature pinschers brim with energy and require a fenced yard to run in, they make great agility dogs. They are great acrobats and some recommend having a kennel with a lid on it for them to keep them confined. They make good watchdogs, as they are alert and wary of strangers. This is a suitable dog breed for kids.

Health

Min Pins are generally healthy, but like all breeds, they may be prone to certain health conditions, such as Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, Hypothyroidism, and Von Willebrand’s disease.
